Breast Cancer SupportNothing makes me feel happier than time spent with close friends and family members. It helps recharge my batteries and reminds me of what life is all about - love, companionship and simple pleasures. It is important to have - and to be a part of - a positive support system, especially when a loved one is going through an event such as being diagnosed with breast cancer. One way you can help a friend, family member or loved one going through a breast cancer diagnosis is to be a good breast cancer support to them. This starts with being a good listener. Listening may be the ultimate example of selfless giving. And it's a gift that you can give every day. Listen to her knowing that she may not want advice, she may simply need to vent or get her mind off her treatments. If you have a friend or loved one going through breast cancer treatment, besides listening you can do the following as ways to provide breast cancer support:- Offer to go with her to doctor's appointments and take notes. This can be a stressful time and having someone to take notes can be very helpful.
- Do the little things: Make some healthy meals for your friend and her family. Show up at her house and clean the bathrooms. Offer to watch her kids. Walk or play with her pets. Do a grocery run. Any little bit helps when going through treatment.
- Simply be there for her. Sometimes just sitting and letting someone know through your presence that you care for them and love them is the best gift and support of all.
