Hi Everyone!

Tonight is my 40th high school reunion and I can’t wait to catch up with everyone! I can’t believe it’s been 40 years!

Reunions are so special---I love to see old friends and to appreciate our past while we celebrate our present. It’s a time of reflection and laughter. But let’s face it---there’s also that extra pressure of putting our best foot forward after all those years! Not seeing people in a long time can also cause a lot of stress and force us to take a good look at ourselves compared to how we looked back in the day, and because of that, these events can be a great motivating factor when it comes to diet and exercise!

Whether it’s a reunion or a wedding, we all try and look our very best and reunions are always full of pictures and videos and pictures or videos can also make you look 5 pounds heavier.

If you’re looking to lose a good amount of weight for a big event, it’s important to do it right. Give yourself enough time in advance to workout---I am a firm believer in 30 minutes a day---and to eat right. And if you have a full 10 weeks, join my DenseAustin.com Plan and I will help to walk you through it!

During the 3 weeks leading up to the event, here are a few easy fixes to your diet that will help you to slim down and look your best leading up to the big day:

1. Choose a lettuce wrap over a bun

2. Ditch sodas and sweetened beverages

3. Avoid fried food

4. Use mustard instead of mayo

5. Cut down to just 1 glass of wine on the weekend

In the final week, you’ll want to put your best foot forward. Here are a few of my favorite Slim & Trim Reunion-Ready Tips for the last 7 days before your event:

* Eat lean, green and CLEAN! I also cut down my daily meal intake to 1200 total calories per day of healthy, balanced meals. Also, I don’t use sugar in my coffee and try and eliminate any type of sugary foods that give me nothing but empty calories. I eat good carbs, such as oatmeal, 7 days before and lean proteins. I thrive on hard-boiled eggs, tuna and salmon to get plenty of EPA from omega-3 fatty acids to give me energy. And I try and avoid eating late at night—so I stick with a 7am to 7pm eating rule to make sure that all the food I eat is well-metabolized.

* Minimize salt intake! I always bring down the salt content of my meals leading up to a big event where I want to look my best. I read labels all the time and try and avoid canned goods, and use minimal salt.

* Hydrate! I try and drink 64 ounces of water a day and try to keep my urine clear, which means I’m getting ample water.

* Rest Up! Get to bed at a good hour so that you’re getting plenty of sleep. Sleep is so important for overall good health and it also helps with memory, too, so that you’ll be sure to recall the name of that friend you haven’t seen for 40 years!
